What is a crisis?
At Handson Partners, we speak of a crisis when the reputation of an organization is at serious threat. That can be because of an incident or wrongdoings or grievances made public. We also see contentious decisions made by management leading to crises more and more. Often, there are multiple factors at play at once.
A crisis is characterized by fast changing views, rumors and uncertainty. These things combine with the pressure to respond with a solution quickly. Crises are by definition sudden, but don’t always come without warning signs. Unresolved issues can unexpectedly reach crisis point due to seemingly small events. Large crises can threaten the continuity of an organization.
